As introduced from the prior press release, “I leave my soul” because of “I feel so free” is an intro piece created during an experimental session. But before our album release party, we had the chance to interview Keyman South and asked him about stories behind each song and the creative process. So, here we go.

“I leave my soul” is more about a song of self-love. It is more about how to think. He told us that he has been busy with school study and the exams in 2020.

He totally forgot about his identity as a musician. He forgot how to sing. He forgot about he can compose. He forgot about he can do production.

It is basically he chose another profession which made him believe can create more capital and more certain than continue his music career. He said one day when he woke up in 2020,

he just suddenly felt, “I don’t like this version of myself. I just want to have some fun” and then he started resuming singing and composing.

He told us that he almost forfeit his new career but he also felt blessed since he got to revisit his old self. When he was creating this piece, he just felt oh, “now it is 2026, but I suddenly feel the same. Only this version of myself, I feel meaningful. I feel myself. I feel that’s the destine set me for,” Keyman South.

Also, he stated the 2020 version of himself was still confused, but the 2026 version of himself, “not for anyone and my life is just for myself.”

What about “Sushi”? Sushi is Keyman’s cousin and he said they are very close. They play video games together all the time. One day Keyman felt their relationship was a little weird so he wrote this song. He said one day when they were eating ice cream together and then Sushi put his finger to the ice cream first and to his face thereafter. Keyman got mad and then he bit Sushi’s face. And then Sushi responded by saying, “that’s battery”, the inspiration of this song.

“Babe” is a narrative created by Keyman. Internally he believes that he is a theft. He said that when he is caught up with something without his own effort but he still can have the fruit without working hard, he feels the guilt and that’s the moment when he can respond with honesty, that includes lying when necessary. He states it is more about IP right as in Chinatown in Manhattan you see people sell brandy stuff all the time. What if I am them and try to get around when I am caught by police?

“Love me one second Love me More” is a song Keyman states that is not a left-over of “Gold” album. He seriously was working on another album in 2023. However, that was his “Original Doll” which was gone due to his personal errands. The same, after the creation of “I feel so free”, he felt this track is fit to the concept of the album of “Possession” very well as that song was the first song after he stops composition for 4 months. When he was composing the song, he stated that he was trying to use all the techniques that he boosted from the back then past 12 months of the music practice. His vocal coach even joked by saying, “I don’t like you sing seriously.”

“Creepy Creep” is a song when Keyman was in subway and reminded him a movie of an artist who tried to create an album in many parts of New York city. They sang on the rooftop and he was saying, “I love sing on subway so I want to try to create a realistic piece here. If not, I will just delete it.”

“Just a Dream” is a song that he admits that he can be an narcissist and tell anyone who feels having connection with him that “it is just a dream”. It is just a fun thing to do and then the other party may believe and say, “you are confused” and when it never truly happened to him. “I told you we are never together since I don’t like anything about you but anyhow we had an entanglement” was the original part of the lyrics he said.

“Cupcake” is a piano piece that he created for a wedding of another cousin. He said that, “I sometimes feel close with a cousin but when he/she gets married, I still feel I want to create the best piece for them.”

Marriage is beautiful and marriage is a celebration of the life of two.

“But Why Are You not not my Kuwait” is song that he stated that he applied the imaginary composition method.

He stated that Taylor Swifts is an artist who can compose and the story is more inspired from her personal story.

Keyman stated that “what if I imagine that I am someone who is not me but can be the past version of myself and then I am with my lover who I was possible being with?”

The answer from the song is that it can be another version of us who will be with each other to an eternity.

Keyman South is also a writer. A writer who published one original novel, “Crazy God Mother”. “Crazy God Mother II” is in work but the first one before publishing was about the time when this piece was created. He said one day his god mother said to him when he was pursuing his academic journey, “you are an Iman.”

He was a Buddhist so he did not know what she meant.

Many years after and when he truly realized what she meant, he stated that, “what if you knew, what I know now? I blame on fate and treasure fate at the same time,” and then he continued, “feel more sad than ever.”

When the person you love the most is not in your life, that is “Feel More Sad Than Ever”.

“Possession” is the first rap song he stated that he never did as the before he believes that he does singing rap not pure rap. So he invited Shaq as the guest with AI and stated, “I thought I am a new born now but I still possess the skill from the past.”

“Possession is a person who is possessive possesses you.”

Whether “Possession” will be released before June 01, 2026, we shall know?!
