“Crazy God Dad” Excerpt Three, Chapter One

After my life was turned around and everything seemed peaceful, me and Indira did not talk anymore.

It was like a mutual agreement that because we have been receiving different information and conflict in our moral construction system, we decided not to talk too often.

“Yes, something you feel ok and when time grows, it can lead to bad results.”

I attended a job interview in Paris because what is to escape the reality, a new surrounding circumstances. Especially when you are surrounded by people from France, you just can believe it is a new world for you. 

“Hi sir, please tell me your experience and why this job fits you.”

“Oh, I have been working in office roles for the past ten years actually more so. I believe that any opening position which gives me the healthy routine of life may work.”

“Give me a second, so healthy routine you meant?”

“Work, Gym, Sleep, and second day repeats the same.”

“Where were you working before?”

“Oh I was working in the United States. I used to live in New York.”

“So, why did you decide to move here?”

“Oh, since studying public school here is free and I was like, why not since I can learn another language. But it does not mean French is sexier.”

The interviewer always laughed and continued the questions in French. 

Since I totally memorized my line in French just one day before the interview, I basically did not know what I was talking about. But if I recall what I said to the interviewer, translate to the English is something like this.

“What interested you about this job? How did you know about our company?”

I sensed the word company and I felt the interviewer was asking me something about their company since I did not know much, I answered.

“Each company has its unique culture and I do believe that each company we can learn a lot.”

The interviewer paused a little bit and then continued, “so what did you expect to learn from this work experience?”

I heard the work “experience”, and then I was like, “if I say something can be learned and now they are talking about experience, I picked another ‘French Line’ by myself.”

“Experience I think is very important for one’s personal development especially in a new country, now I am in France. A country  which I don’t speak their local language.”

The interviewer looked confused and I was panic a bit and talked to myself, “damn it, should have found an English speaking job.”

And then the Interviewer switched to English, “since this job requires a lot of team work so what related experience you feel you can learn both from this company and the colleagues.”

I was like, “ok this is nice so I can answer in French.”

“From our family business, I learnt I should or I should say I should have treated everyone equally, but you know when that is not possible. Compromise is also part of the lesson.”

And then the interviewer switched to French again, “so tell me about your family business?”

I was like, “yes, I got the ‘family business’ part so she probably just wants me to talk about my family business.”

“Our family business which I no longer a part of am is due to conflict of interest. After my marriage, our family rule is if the person is not bringing a member to family, then the person can no longer be part of the business. Our family business is a congregate conglomerate group with different departments. For me, it was a relief since I can live truthfully now. I mean, see where I fit.”

“Ok, we will let you know in a week.”

After finished my studying MBA course in the U.S., I just felt it was so fun to go to the interview without preparation or somewhat prep a little bit. First, the reaction is real, at the same time, since the interviewer usually with the authority to hire, they need to be polite but also honest. Sometime, a little aggressive attitude is allowed.

Surprisingly, I received the phone call from the manager and he told me I was hired but the condition is I need to learn more French.

After my MBA program and after my watch making and purse making game, I decided to completely purge myself. I just felt I did money laundry with Indira, even we won the case. One day, when I was walking passed by and hearing one couple arguing and the lady screaming at the man, “I did not catch you but it does not mean I did not know you cheated!”

I was like, “duh, but why are you talking about it?”

MBA program is super devil to me now because it basically made me feel that all my efforts on watch making and purse making are meaningless when everyone knows the true value behind the work.

“Why?” Another interviewer. Yes, you cannot hang yourself onto only one tree and expect yourself not to fly again.

“Because when someone can learn it from school, then it means the information can be spread to everywhere. Basically, oh you wear this season of Prada but you only worth the basic value of the outfit and the rest reflects either your stupidity or social status. If you did not make the money, only thing left is the stupidness.”

“So, can you work full time? Do you have family members to take care off?”

“No, but I am obligated to pay child support and not have an affair.”

“If you don’t mind me ask, who is that lucky man?”

“Oh, we live separately and he is in business but we financially independent, or at least somewhat.”

“What does he do?”

“Why is it relevant to this interview? If I may ask.”

“Oh, to avoid conflict of interest.”

“Well, if you invite me to your apartment to have some water, he will not know.”

“Why?”

“Because he does not have what I have.”

“Like what?”

I pined my second and third finger to his forehead and paused there for 3 seconds.

“………..”

I went to Hondira thereafter and told her I went to a new interview as I was hanging out with her and her friends that included male and female. 

“That interviewer was so weird and kept asking me private questions.”

Hondira pretended did not hear me and went to the bathroom. 

And then I heard very very loud laughing sound from the bathroom.

The second interview was an administration position at a perfume company. I was told that people work in French fashion company can have more flexible schedule also besides learning French, I was trying to figure out where is my destination as a time traveller.

“So, this conversation is privileged, tell me what happened.”

“I dated a guy named Kwat and later found out he is an undercover. I just felt I could outplayed him and he outplayed me. I felt I was entrapped but I have to admit, when $ 10,000 cash handed to my hand and in exchange of my work. I believe him.”

Turns time back to 2 months ago.

“Hi baby, I have to tell you. The wallet you made definitely worth $ 10,000.”

I angrily hang up the phone and looked at the window. Yes, some words when the tone if different, you just can feel the true meaning of, “if I told you the universe is round, you cannot believe the opposite. When I told you without me you cannot survive, you are not able to show me yet.”

Yes, at the point, I already learnt, less talk is always the smarter move in all kind of situation. 

I continued with the attorney for the interview and Indira and I were separated.

“I do believe Indira might have done something but if what she did is due to what she was told, I seriously cannot believe she did something. But, now we seriously are drifting apart again due to what we have done and what we have been told.”

“What do you mean by ‘she may have done’ something?”

“Like, what if she did it? But your job is to help us get away with murder even we did it due to the money on your hand now, see? One hundred Thousand Dollars.”

“You have more to tell me about?”

“Well, sometimes life is more hell when you are not in jail but know you are detained forever. Look at her, if you tell me she has free will, I do not believe it.”

“……”

“Also, I seriously do not inquire gossip. It is like computer programming, one after another and then the end result make you believe inserting coding language will guarantee the result and one day, one person will just make you believe, they are all gone.”

“I don’t know what you are talking about.”

“Like people saying because what she did under the table, the enterprise survived a bit, but it went too far. At the same time, I always wonder, ‘why you tell me this, actually me and her not even related.’ Not related means we live in two family households now. It is very easy for me to believe that she used me as the target so the gold owner will throw their money to us. But what if? She was not able to?”

“Why?”

I handed the chip drive given by the God mother, “it is all yours now.”
